Since 1904, the World YMCA and the World YWCA have come together to deliver the World Week of Prayer and World Fellowship.
Celebrated each year in the second week of November, the Week sees both organisations joining forces to produce a booklet with a theme, a set of Bible studies for each day, and an annual Bible reading plan so that communities around the world can unite in prayer for a specific cause linked to current realities.
This year, the Week of Prayer takes place from 12-18 November 2023.
Recognising the importance of intergenerational solidarity as the cornerstone for creating a world where ‘justice and peace will embrace each other’ (cf. Psalm 85:10), this year’s Week of Prayer resources are centred on the theme ‘Seeds to Blossoms: Cultivating Hope and Love in Solidarity.’
Illustrating the journey is the nurturing of a plant, with the week’s resources structured around each phase of the plant’s growth cycle: Preparing the soil, sowing the seeds, nurturing with care, being guardians of growth, fostering resilience through pruning, and finally, harvesting the fruits.
